Company To Invest US$280 Million In Bamboo Farm

Minister of State in the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries, Hon. Floyd Green, says a company is set to invest US$280 million in the development of a bamboo farm in Trelawny.

Mr. Green made the disclosure at the official launch of the 65th staging of the Hague Agricultural and Industrial Show, on Wednesday (January 22), at the Hague Showground in Trelawny.

TransJamaican Highway IPO

TransJamaican Highway Limited’s (TJH) initial public offering (IPO) could commence next month.

“We are hoping sometime in early February or thereabouts,” said Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness.

The Prime Minister was speaking during the opening ceremony for the 15th Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE) Regional Conference on Investments and Capital Markets, at The Jamaica Pegasus hotel in New Kingston on Tuesday (January 21).

PM’s Foundation Donates $400,000 To Organisations Under JSSE

Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, has donated $400,000 through his Positive Jamaica Foundation, towards the six organisations that have, to date, been approved for funding support under the Jamaica Social Stock Exchange (JSSE).

The JSSE, an initiative of the Jamaica Stock Exchange (JSE), facilitates financing, through public donations, for approved organisations involved in the implementation of social programmes for the society’s most vulnerable and marginalised citizens.

Cruise Ship Call To Port Royal A Success – Minister Grange

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Hon. Olivia Grange, is hailing the inaugural call of the cruise ship, Marella Discovery II, to the historic town of Port Royal on Monday (January 20) as a success.

She said the feedback from the visitors indicate that they were pleased with the day’s activities, which included a tour of various sites in the Corporate Area and nearby parishes.
